What Nima sends, what it keeps, and which services process your speech, reading and billing.
Nima is run by Yarden Rubinstein. This page explains what Nima does with your information. Questions go to support@mynima.io.
What leaves your computer
Nima is not an offline product, and we are not going to tell you it is. Four services do work on your behalf:
- Google (Gemini) receives the audio you dictate, the text or screen region you ask Nima to read, and returns the transcript or the spoken audio. For the reading voice, Google keeps the text and the audio it made for a limited period under its own terms; Nima keeps neither.
- TypeSafe (through Vercel), only when Skip ads and unrelated text is on and you read from a sentence on a web page in Chrome or Edge, receives the page title, the paragraph you started from and the text after it (a few dozen paragraphs ahead of what is being read, including ads Nima then skips) and simple layout details such as whether a paragraph is a link or a heading, and returns which paragraphs to read. Nima asks for it not to be kept.
- Supabase holds your account and the counts that enforce your allowance: words dictated, seconds read, and when.
- Lemon Squeezy handles payment if you subscribe. They are the merchant of record. Card details never reach Nima.
What Nima keeps
Dictation audio, screenshots, the text the reader collects and the audio it speaks all live in memory and are discarded. The one exception is a small set of fixed voice samples, which are public sentences cached on your computer so a voice preview plays instantly.
Dictation history is off unless you turn it on. When it is on, it is stored on your computer only, and you can clear it at any time.
Logs record what happened, never what you said. No transcript, no field contents, no credentials.
Usage counts
To enforce 2,000 words a week on Free and 60,000 words a week on Pro, we count words and seconds against your account. We record the count, the kind of work and the time. We do not record the text. To keep the Free plan fair, addresses that deliver to the same mailbox share one Free allowance. We use a keyed, one-way code derived from your normalised mailbox to recognise aliases and prevent deletion and re-registration from resetting limits. The mailbox code attached to a usage record is removed after 35 days. It is pseudonymous, not anonymous, while we hold its secret key.
To offer the first guided tour only once per mailbox, we retain a separate keyed mailbox code for the lifetime of that offer, including after account deletion. That marker contains no email address or dictated or read content.
Authentication emails are sent through Resend. The delivery service receives your address and the confirmation code needed to sign in or recover your account. Nima does not put these codes in application logs.
We retain payment and checkout references and their verification proofs after deletion to verify delayed payment events and cancel a late or resumed subscription. These proofs have no automatic expiry: removing them would prevent us from safely identifying those later charges. The separate keyed mailbox code prevents duplicate unresolved checkouts; it is removed 35 days after a checkout is consumed or verified resolved. Deleting an account removes its profile but does not erase unresolved payment obligations. Contact support@mynima.io for help resolving them.
Support messages
When you write to support@mynima.io, your message and anything you attach are delivered through ordinary mail services to a private inbox we read. Please do not attach anything you would not want a person to see; we do not need your transcripts to help you.
A report you send from Help & feedback in the app takes the same route: our server emails your message, and the privacy-safe diagnostics if you leave them included, through Resend to that inbox, with your account's address as the reply address. We keep only a record that a report was sent, without its message or diagnostics, for 35 days.
Service logs
For every request the app makes to our servers we record which service it was, whether it worked, how long it took, and the account it belonged to. We never record what you said, read or typed. The link to your account is removed after 90 days.
We keep service records for 400 days.
Website visits
When you visit mynima.io we count the visit without cookies and without storing anything in your browser. We record the time, the page, the site that sent you, any campaign tag in the link, your country, your type of device and browser, and whether you clicked the download or support links. To count unique visitors we make a one-day code from your network address and browser; the secret it is made with is replaced every day and deleted after two days, so a visit cannot be linked to your visits on other days. Nima never stores your network address or your browser's full details. Vercel, which hosts the site, processes the request to do this.
We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest in knowing how people find Nima. To opt out, turn on Global Privacy Control (or Do Not Track) in your browser and the site sends nothing at all.
If you visit from outside the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, your visit may also be recorded as a replay: what the page showed, and your clicks, scrolling and pointer movement on it, so we can see where the page fails people. This too works without cookies and without storing anything in your browser, and it never runs when Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track is on. PostHog, in the United States, stores replays for us for 30 days, with the type of browser and device, screen size, language and time zone. It receives them through our own server, so it does not get your network address.
Downloads
Each download of the installer gets a short random tag in its file name, so we can count downloads by the page and campaign that led to them.
We keep visit and download records for 400 days.
Deleting your account
In Nima, open General and choose Delete account. If you have a subscription, it is cancelled first, so deleting your account can never leave a payment running with nothing attached to it. Then we delete your sign-in, your email address and your profile. The counts of words and seconds you used, and our billing records, are kept without anything that identifies you, so our totals stay correct; billing records are also kept as the law requires for tax. Settings and history on your computer stay until you choose Reset Nima or uninstall.
To get a copy of your data, or if you cannot reach the app, write to support@mynima.io. Lemon Squeezy keeps the payment records it is required to keep as merchant of record.
