When the PDF has selectable text.
Open the document and bring the passage into view. Press Right Alt + Right Ctrl and select a range, or make a highlight first and use Read highlighted. Start with a short passage to check the reading order.
Multi-column layouts, tables and unusual text encoding can make extracted text unreliable. Nima can fall back to the visible screen region, but recognition is still fallible.
When the page is a scan or image.
Zoom until the letters are clear. Open the picker and draw around the passage. A smaller region containing one column usually gives a clearer reading order than a whole crowded page.
The region must be on screen. Nima does not upload the entire PDF, automatically turn its pages or convert it into a downloadable audiobook. Choose the next passage when you are ready.
Listen at a comfortable pace.
Use the reader’s voice and speed controls, pause when you need to, or select a translation language. Check important figures and names against the document.
Microsoft Edge also has built-in Read aloud and reading tools. If those meet your needs, you may not need another app. Nima offers a consistent selection workflow across supported Windows text and visible regions.
A few useful answers.
Does Nima read an entire scanned book automatically?
No. The screen-region workflow reads the visible passage you choose. It does not provide automatic book scanning or page turning.
Can it read charts or explain a diagram?
The reader is designed to collect and speak text. Do not rely on it as an interpretation of charts, diagrams or mathematical notation.
